Harold J. Krone
Harold J. Krone, 77, son of late Louis and Nora Elgen Krone, passed away at his Boise home on May 7, 2018. His life will be celebrated at a funeral service in his home town of Big Timber Montana. Harold was born in Big Timber, MT on January 4, 1941. He was the youngest of three children and attended school at Bridger Creek and Big Timber Grade School and completed High School at SGHS in Big Timber, MT.
After High School, he worked at Downer Lumber in Livingston MT. He then returned to Big Timber and worked for Jake Osterhout, who taught him mechanical skills, leading him to work for Sweet Grass County Road Department as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator for 26 years. Upon retiring from the county, he worked for Jim Stephens as a machinist for an additional 10 years. While residing in Big Timber, he actively participated in the Big Timber Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, of which he served as Assistant Chief for some time. Harold then worked at the family owned business, Clyde Park Tavern & Café for 9 years. He and his wife moved to Boise, ID in 2008 to be closer to children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker and truly a jack of all trades.
Harold married Helen Pollari in 1967, and later divorced. Of this union, his son Keith was born. He then had the pleasure of marrying his high school sweetheart, Mary Whitham on June 21, 1975. Mary brought with her three daughters from a previous marriage and together they had a son (Ben) and daughter (Sonja).
Harold is survived by his wife, Mary of 41 years; his sons, Keith (Kasey) Krone of Boise, ID; Ben (Esther) Krone of Nampa, ID; his daughter Sonja (Michael) Batease of Boise, ID; step-daughters, Teresa Powell (Rich Sarrazin) of Wilsall, MT; Rosie (Kurtis) McLeod of Moore, OK, and Polly (Phil) Gyger of Safford, AZ; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one Sister, Gladys (Olav) Stenberg of McLeod, MT; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Leonard, and two great-grandsons.
Services will be held at the Big Timber Lutheran Church on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 2 pm. There will be an optional viewing from 9 am -1 pm, Monday morning at the Stenberg Funeral home.
