Elmer G. Boltz
Elmer George Boltz was born on May 11, 1929 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His parents were Philip and Pauline (Seibel) Boltz. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Phillip Boltz of Lehi, UT and his sister June Druse of McMinnville, OR.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Esther, his son Michael / Shari of Boise, ID, daughters Janice / Randy Lewis of Seattle, WA, and Kathleen / Todd Tiffany of Boise, ID, three grand-children; Kevin / Carly Lewis of Bothel, WA, Alana Bolltz of Lexington, KY, and Olivia Boltz of Boise, ID, two great-grandchildren; Hazel and William Lewis of Bothel, WA, his brother Lawrence Boltz of Yakima WA and several nieces and nephews.
Elmer worked in the grocery industry in many capacities for 50 years. He moved to Yakima, WA where he finished High School (Class of ’47) and after graduation enlisted in the US Army, serving in Europe for nearly 3 years as a cryptographic repairman. Upon his return to the states, he continued working in the grocery industry. Later, when the Korean War began he enlisted in the US Air Force, doing the same type of work as he did in the Army for approximately 2 years.
A lifelong Christian, he was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Idaho Falls, ID. Later when he lived in Washington State he was active in several WELS Lutheran Churches, and served in many ways.
On November 23, 1952 he married Esther Ewald and they had a happy marriage for nearly 66 years. They were blessed with 3 Children, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services are at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 11655 W. McMillian, Boise, ID, on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm MDT. Memorial contributions may be sent to Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) Mission Fund.
