Dr. Garry L. Shohet

April 25, 1955 ~ October 10, 2018 (age 63)

During the early morning of October 10th 2018, Dr. Garry Lorin Shohet, 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Eagle, Idaho. Garry was born April 25th, 1955 in Medford, Massachusetts to Robert Irving Shohet and Jeanne Prager. He was a middle child to three sisters, Joyce, Francine, and Michelle, and spent his early life living with family in Boston, Massachusetts.

After graduation at Medford High School in 1973, he attended Hartford University for two years and transferred to Syracuse University in New York, and graduated in 1977. His passion for healing took him to Logan University Chiropractic College in St. Louis, Missouri, where he graduated and received his degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1982. After pursuing the education that would be the foundation of his medical career, he opened his first practice in San Diego, California.

Garry met the love of his life, Kristi Lynn Hill, and the two were married on May 28th, 1988. Together they raised four children, and moved to the treasure valley in Star and Eagle, Idaho, where he spent the remainder of his days. He was certified in acupuncture in 2000 and received his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine in 2008. In 2007, he founded Boise Naturopathic Medicine where he treated hundreds of patients, helping to improve their daily livelihood.

Garry was known for being incredibly caring to everyone he encountered. He was passionate about his practice, and continually strived to improve the lives of his patients, attending endless seminars and researching new treatments to provide the best service possible. He loved his children deeply, he invested daily in their interests, supporting their endeavors and cultivating deep, loving friendships with them. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, motorcycle trips with lifelong-friends Mark and Loni Ellis, and volunteered as a community leader in the Boy Scouts of America for several years, assisting countless members achieve their Eagle Scout ranking.

Garry is survived by his wife Kristi, his children Anthony Hill-Contreras, Andrea Hill-Contreras (Ricky), Chad Shohet, and Mitchell (Megan) Shohet, his parents Robert and Jeanne Shohet, and his sisters Joyce (Alan) Ackerman, Francine (Neal) Hamel, and Michelle Tiahi.

Memorial services will be held October 15th, at 10am at the Eagle Stake Center located at 2090 N. Eagle Rd., Eagle, with a visitation held one hour prior to the service. Garry’s final resting place will be at Dry Creek Cemetery.
