TSgt Donald L Grandmason (Ret.), 83, of Eagle, passed away September 3rd. Don was born November 20, 1934 in Bay City, Michigan to Roy and Frances (Archambeau) Grandmason.
Don joined the Air Force in 1953. He married Rose Marie Sheleski March 27, 1957 in Sebewaing, MI. They have two daughters, Joan and Theresa. Don served more than 20 years in the Air Force with stops in Okinawa, Michigan, Alaska, Colorado, Japan, New Hampshire, Iceland and Mountain Home, Idaho before retiring in 1973.
Upon leaving the service he started Ada Cash Register which he and Rose ran until their retirement. They spent many winters in Bullhead City, Arizona. Don was a lifetime Detroit Tigers fan and also enjoyed Michigan State Football. He enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, softball and coaching. Many knew him as the dog walker as you would see him every day out walking his dog.
Don was a member of the Elks. He also spent 8 years volunteering at the Eagles Senior Center.
We will miss his stories, the smell of his pipe and his burnt hotdogs.
Don is survived by his wife Rose Marie, his daughters, Joan (Steve) Antoine, Theresa (Pat) Roark; grandchildren Michael & Christy Kuiken, Sara (Chris) Matthews, Ben (Cassie) Miller, Steven Antoine, Katie (Sean) Smith & Kelly (Tara) Roark; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Royal Grandmason, great granddaughter Michaella Coe.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 11, at 10:45am at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
