David L. Mondry

February 4, 1961 ~ June 28, 2018 (age 57)

David Lee Mondry

David Lee Mondry, 57, of Meridian, Idaho, succumbed to cancer in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by the love of his family, on June 28, 2018, after a fierce two year battle.

Dave is survived by his wife Kristi of nearly 32 years, daughter Myranda Mondry, son Marshall Mondry, parents Bud and Joanne Mondry, brothers Mark (Jill) Mondry, and Gary (Ann) Mondry, sisters Debbie (Rick) Jacobson, and Brenda (Mark) Decker, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends. Dave was a loving and devoted husband, proud father, and friend to all.

Born in Warren, Minnesota, Dave grew up in the small town of Oslo. He met the love of his life at the annual Bean Day parade in 1985 and married her one year later. The two moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, to start their careers and their family — here, they made lifelong friends and were blessed with two children.

Dave studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Dakota and began his lifetime career at J.R. Simplot Company in 1987. He steadily and consistently worked his way up through the company for 31 years. He took great pride in his job, as well as the people he worked with. Dave’s family and friends will always remember to order french fries to “create demand.”

Dave and his family moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1998. He spent the following 20 years climbing mountains, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, fishing, running marathons, and taking advantage of all the outdoor activities Idaho has to offer. Dave loved living in Idaho and all who knew him would agree that he had found his forever home in the Rocky Mountains.

Dave will always be remembered for his sharp wit, his love of rock n’ roll music, and his enjoyment of craft beer. He was a mentor to many, a hero to his family, and a role model to all. He was always there to lend a helping hand or a word of advice to those who needed it.

Above all, Dave loved his family. Caring for his wife and children was his greatest joy in life. He will be immensely missed.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and caretakers at St. Luke’s Hospice in Boise for their loving care and support during Dave’s final days.

Memorial services for Dave will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 6, 2018, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church on the corner of Victory and Five Mile Rd in Boise. Burial will follow in Meridian Cemetery at 895 E. Franklin Road in Meridian. A celebration of Dave’s wonderful life will be held at his family’s house, 1885 S. Labrador Pl., in Meridian, after the burial.
