Welcome to the memorial page for

Darlene May Church

July 24, 1937 ~ September 7, 2017 (age 80)

Darlene May Church, 80 years old, of Boise Idaho passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Assisted Living on September 7, 2017. Darlene May Church was born July 24, 1937 in Havre, Montana, youngest child of James and Lorraine Richards. She grew up with her older sisters, Mary and Joice and older brothers Bob and Jim.

She married Richard Church in 1955 and together raised two daughters and three sons. He worked for Great Northern Railroad (later Burlington Northern)  until he retired. Darlene and Richard divorced in 1981. Richard passed in October 2010.

Darlene worked for many years as a cook for the Iron Horse restaurant in Havre.  She loved horses, black labs, being in the mountains and dessert. Darlene enjoyed people and being social – she enjoyed  life.  But most of all, she loved her children. She found lots of little things to do to occupy her children when they were small, like riding around in the rain and splashing puddles with the car.

Later in life, Darlene developed a close friendship with Lloyd Haymaker and together they traveled around the southwestern US in Lloyds RV seeing the sights and visiting Darlene’s brother Bob and sister Mary.  Lloyd passed away September 2014.

Darlene is survived by her sisters Joice Unruh (Lakeside, Mt) and Mary Adams (Grand Junction, Co), four children; Mary Woods (Las Vegas, Nv), Robert Church (Ben Lomond, Ca), Ruby Church Cornett Burney (Bryan,Tx),  Rick Church (Boise, Id), 10 grand children, 22 great grand children and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Randy Roy Church (1985).

A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Assisted Living  1093 S. Hilton St.  Boise Idaho on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10AM with burial following later in the day.

You are loved and will be sorely missed. Condolences may be left at
