Carolyn Radford Martin March 30, 1939- April 1, 2018
Carolyn Radford Martin was born in Rupert, Idaho on March 30, 1939 to Arthur Chester Radford and Elsie Eldredge Radford. She was the oldest of five children. She attended several elementary schools in Idaho, at Rupert, Hazelton, Nampa and Boise. She went to both South and North Junior High in Boise, and to Boise High School.
She married George Burnett in November 1958. George was from Scotland. After they were married they lived in Scotland for 8 months. Carolyn enjoyed the lush and green scenery of Scotland. They had five children: 3 girls and 2 boys Kathryn, Pamela, David, Heather and James. They were later divorced. She married Forest( Windy) Martin in June, 1974, and lived in Parma, Idaho. She worked at Simplot’s for nearly 30 years.
Carolyn was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Rupert, Idaho when she was 8 years old. She became active after her husband Forest passed away. Sheila Sharp and Norma Jacks helped her come back to church. She loved going to church and the activities, like the book reviews, and going to the temple with the Relief Society sisters. She loved serving in the nursery with the little children, being a visiting teacher , and served as the Sunday School secretary. She had a strong testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ. It was fitting that she got to pass away on Easter Sunday , April 1, 2018.
She enjoyed reading, embroidering dish towels and pillowcases. She enjoyed cooking for her family. She loved making candy for Christmas gifts. She enjoyed going out to eat and shopping with her friends, especially Laura Gonzales, and Norma Jacks. She was a wonderful friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Forest, and a brother, Chester Lamoyne Radford of Boise, Idaho. She is survived by her twin brothers, Gaylan Radford of Boise, Idaho, and Terry Radford of Edina, Mo and her sister Ilona Radford Swenson of Payson, AZ. Carolyn is also survived by her five children Kathryn Burnett Sypher, Pam Burnett Valardi, Heather Burnett Chaves, David Burnett and James Burnett and 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
We would like to thank the staff at the Owyhee Health and Rehab Center for their care of Carolyn for the last three years. Carolyn passed away April 1, 2018 in Homedale, Idaho. Graveside services will be held Monday April 16, 2018 at the Parma Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
