Albert Wesley Murphy ,92, of Kuna, Idaho passed away Sunday May 27, with family by his side. He was born June 11, 1925 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Harry and Alice Murphy.
Albert moved to Idaho with his family in 1935 so his Dad could pastor the Central Park church in Middleton, Idaho. In 1936 the family moved to Emmett, Idaho to pastor. Eventually the family moved to Hill Road in Boise, where they built a home across the road from the Peckham family. Albert joined the Navy on June 3, 1943, where he served as Hospital Apprentice First Class at NTS at Farragut; Idaho, Great Lakes, Illinois; Norman, Oklahoma; Pensacola, Florida; Cavite City, Philippine Islands and Bremerton, Washington. He was honorably discharged with the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
In 1946 he returned home from the Navy and later married Elsie Peckham in her parent’s home on April 5.1947 As a young teen, he rode a bicycle for Western Union Telegraph. He held various jobs during his life including the US Forest Service, Idaho Creamery, Eddy’s Bakery and Starcraft Manufacturing. In l967, Albert and Elsie began working on guest (dude) ranches in Idaho’s Primitive
Area including Pistol Creek Ranch, Alison Ranch, White Water Ranch, Chamberlain Basin, Mackay Bar and Big Creek. They truly enjoyed the years they spent in the back country. They later became employed by the Salvation Army and eventually retired from there. After retirement they became campground hosts for the Forest Service once again enjoying the mountains.
Albert’s biggest love next to God and his family was his love of fishing. He seemed to be able to catch fish when no one else could!
Albert was a very good life storyteller. He always caused people to laugh at the tales of his boyhood antics. He enjoyed singing whether it was religious songs or silly ditties. Once again always making us laugh. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Nampa, ID.
Albert is survived by Elsie his wife of 71 years, Kuna, daughters Elaine (Allard) Smith and Leona (David) Browning all of Nampa, ID. Four grandchildren, Holly (Bryan) Bell of Kuna, Amy (Brent) Hoskins of Caldwell, Jake (Sara) Browning of Nampa and Kate (Nick) Noble of Kuna. Six great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

Internment will be held Monday, June 4, at 10:00 am at Cloverdale Cemetery 1200 N. Cloverdale Rd. Boise, Idaho.
