Sonja Gale Krause BrusAugust 14, 1963 ~ May 13, 2017 (age 53)
Sonja Gale Krause Brus left those who love her dearly here on Earth, to join our Lord and Savior in heaven on May 13, 2017. She was at her home in Eagle, ID, where she was cared for tenderly by her family during her prolonged, courageous, battle with breast cancer.
Sonja was born August 14, 1963 in Florence, Oregon to Harlan Jay and Lois Esther (Smith) Krause. She was the second of three daughters. Her parents took them on many cross-country vacations, taking in the wondrous beauty of our nation along with its history. In 1981 she won the title of Queen Rhododendra at the local yearly festival, and graduated salutatorian from Mapleton High School. She spent a year at Lewis and Clark College before transferring to Oregon State University. She earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Communications in 1986. Her post-graduate employment began in the claims department of State Farm in Vancouver, WA.
She met Mario Brus while living in that area, and they married on September 18, 1988 in the gardens of the scenic Columbia Gorge Hotel. They moved to Idaho in 1989 and settled eventually in Eagle, Idaho. Sonja’s greatest joy were the two children they raised together, Olivia Rochelle (Brus) Mangeac and Andrew Mario Brus. Her husband says they are a reflection of her efforts in raising them and the guidance she provided as they grew into being wonderful, intelligent and accomplished adults. Both children reside and work in the Eagle area.
Sonja is survived by her husband Mario and their children Olivia (husband Alex) and Andrew, as well as her father Harlan, and sisters Rachelle (husband Kim), and Dione (husband Jeff), sister-in-law Heather (Brus) Clements and husband Ken, brother-in-law Will Brus and wife Nancy. Also, surviving her are nieces and nephews: Nathan (wife Laura) Campbell, Sean Campbell, Joseph Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Seth Campbell, Justin Young, Jacob Young, Kristi Clements, Ashley Clements, Tiffany Brus and Katrina Brus. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her Christian convictions, generosity of heart, outrageously fantastic family vacations and her love of dessert.
A graveside service is planned for Friday, May 19, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery. Flowers should be sent to: 3238 N Falstaff Pl Eagle, ID 83616.
