Ray “Butch” Warren Gibson
Ray Warren Gibson, 74, of Meridian, went to Heaven on September 30th 2017, surrounded by loved ones. Ray fought hard, but ultimately lost the battle to cancer. Ray was born on November 11, 1942 in Oxnard California.
Ray was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served honorably as a skilled flight mechanic. He grew up all over the United States in a military family. As a youth, he developed a love for engines and enjoyed rebuilding car engines into souped up hot rods, many times with his children. Most recently he lived in Reno, Nevada, where he retired from Ebara International.
Ray’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family laughing and playing games. He was a devoted husband, and never spoke a negative word about his sweet wife, LeeAnn.
The discipline and patriotism Ray learned in the Air Force never left him, as friends and family will attest. He was well known around town for wearing his red, white, and blue suspenders.
Ray is survived by his wife, LeeAnn, five children: Jen (Larry) Stover, Randie Jones, Tammie (Josh) Ashby, Kim (Rob) Shrider, and Robert (Julie) Gibson. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, his sister, Patti (John) Lucchesi, his brother, Fred (Paige) Gibson, and many nieces and nephews. Ray is preceded in death by his parents Jay C. Gibson and Pauline F. Stallings. Also by his son-in-law Chris Jones.
