Robert Lee McFarland (Rob) passed away peacefully on February 3,, 2018 at Saint Alphonsus in Boise, Idaho. He was 65.
Rob was born December 30, 1952 in Flint Michigan to Bob & Betty McFarland, he had twin older sisters who then all moved from Flint, Michigan to Manhattan Beach, CA when Rob was only 6 years old. From there he enjoyed the beach lifestyle as he grew up steps away from the beach. He loved body surfing, volleyball, and especially fishing in the ocean, or off the pier.
He married his high school sweetheart Vonnie in 1973. They had one child, Michael in 1977. In 1982 they moved to Boise, Idaho so they could all enjoy the great outdoors. Rob loved to go fishing the most. He fished all over Idaho, but was often found weekly at Lucky Peak with friends or family. Rob’s passion indoors was bowling, nearly every Friday he was bowling from 6pm until Midnight with Friends and family. He truly enjoyed all kinds of activities. Rob was a plumber in the Treasure Valley.
Rob had a big heart, cared for everyone. He would give his shirt off is back if needed. He suffered many medical issues in his life, but continued to love those around him and lived life to the fullest.
His pride was his son Michael, and his only grandsons Jacob and Miles.
Rob is survived by his wife Vonnie, Son Michael (Jill), Grandkids Jacob and Miles, Sister in law Sandy, Niece Shannon (Rich) their children Karlee & Braden, Nephew Jesse (Catie) their son Ashton, Niece Joleen (Lance) plus countless other family here in Idaho.
Preceded in Death by his parents Bob & Betty McFarland, and twin Sisters Susie & Cathy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bowman Funeral Parlor in Garden City on Saturday February 10, 2018 at Noon. At the request of Vonnie, please wear a hat and sunglasses in honor of Rob.
