Kenneth George Rasor, 85, of Boise, Idaho passed away of natural causes, Friday, August 18, 2017 at his home. His last words before he passed away peacefully were “Praise the Lord.” His wife of 63 years, Esther, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, and who hasn’t said anything in some time, remarked “I’m getting my wings!”
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 24 at Veteran’s Cemetery 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise, Idaho. Chaplain John Beck will be officiating. Burial will follow.
Ken was born April 12, 1932 in Boise, Idaho to George William Rasor and Ellen Lorraine Sionis Rasor. Ken graduated from Boise High School. He married Esther Messmer on January 5, 1954. Ken served in the Air Force during the end of WWII, having spent some time in Europe. Ken was a manager of various Skaggs Drug Stores for many years. Later he became a Pastor and ministered to many people in congregations in Oregon, Washington, California and Idaho. He also worked as a custodian at Bakersfield High School in California.
Ken enjoyed being with family, especially barbeques and outings to the coast. He was an avid chess player who won most of the time, but when he knew he was in trouble in the game he would begin to hum which delighted family members.
Ken is survived by his wife Esther Rasor; his daughters Jennie Carroll, Nicki Black, and Gail Johnson (husband Paul Johnson); 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister Joann Giles (husband Lamar). Ken was preceded in death by his parents George and Ellen, and brother Jack Rasor.
