On October 30, 1921, Ed was born the youngest of 11 children. Ed passed away peacefully with his loved ones at his side at the age of 96, on March 7, 2018 from complications of advanced age.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Ed married his sweetheart Georgia Pride. Together they moved to Waco, Texas where he was stationed.
Following the end of the war, they moved to Yakima, Washington with their 2 small children. Ed joined Standard Stations, and was transferred to Pendleton, Oregon, then to Baker, Oregon, and in 1960 to Boise, Idaho, where he owned and operated Smith Chevron on Hill Road for many years.
Golfing with his friends, “The Crew” at Eagle Hills, fishing at Cascade Lake and traveling with Georgia in their RV was some of the activities he enjoyed.
Surviving him is his loving wife, Georgia; children, Donna (Dale) Guyer, and Kenneth (Pamela) Smith; 5 grandchildren, Scott Smith, Diane (Brian) Fowles, David (Wendy) Stanger (deceased), Shelly Smith, Jill (Jim) Harper, and Rick (Marie) Guyer; and 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm noon, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City, with a military graveside beginning at 1:00 pm at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.
