Earl Davis, 65 of Boise, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, March 22, 2018. He was born in Tulare, CA to Fred and Neta (Martin) Davis. Earl was a carpenter all his life, relocating for building projects and new adventures. His construction projects took him from California to Saudi Arabia, upstate New York, Idaho and eventually to Barrow, Alaska. Earl spent 16 years in Barrow where he enjoyed teaching the Inupiat students everything from carpentry skills to construction of complete homes. Earl went on to become a Plant Manager for the North Slope Borough School District and Ilisagvik College.
Earl is survived by his wife Kathryn (Kate), son Joshua (Jamie Davis) of Cheyanne, WY, step-son Tyler Shaw of Toronto, Canada, step-daughter Stephanie Hargrove of Hot Springs, AR, brothers Gilbert (Butch) Laird of Granite Falls, WA, James (Leroy) Davis of Visalia, CA and sisters Neta Laird Oliver of Salina, KS and Carolyn (Darryl) Payne of Hermann, MO and many nieces and nephews.
Earl was a friend to everyone and always willing to lend a hand to anyone, especially the neighbors. He was very proud, loyal and protective of his family. Earl promised his wife an adventure when they were married in 1999 and boy did they have one in Alaska. Other adventures included travel across the US, as well as Mexico and Canada. After retirement, Earl and Kate took a trip of a lifetime through Europe. Earl also rediscovered his love of gardening, and enjoyed growing food he could share with his neighbors and friends. Earl was an avid car enthusiast having kept his 1952 Ford Panel since high school. He was a member of the Idaho Chariots and loved car show days and hot rod nights.
A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, May 5th,11:00 am at Bowman Funeral Home.
